Marital rape

A young couple named John and Sarah used to reside in a little town. Sarah was a homemaker who loved to cook and take care of their lovely home, and John was a wealthy businessman.

They had been preparing to start a family soon because they were really in love.

John's treatment towards Sarah began to shift with time, though. As his aggressiveness increased, he began to treat her more like a possession than a partner. Even when she wasn't in the mood, Sarah saw that he would frequently pressurise her. She made an effort to discuss it with him, but he rejected her worries by asserting that it was his right as her husband to have sex with her whenever he desired.

Months went by, and nothing improved. Sarah would frequently beg John to quit pushing himself on her when he got home intoxicated. She had nowhere to turn and felt helpless and trapped. She was aware of the wrongness of what he was doing, but she was unsure of how to stop it.

One night, after John had pushed himself on her once more, Sarah finally snapped. She made the decision to leave him since she realised she could no longer stand it. She decided to start a new life on her own, so she packed a bag and left their house.

But leaving John was just the beginning. Sarah was aware that she needed assistance, but she was too embarrassed to ask for it. She believed that it was her fault and that she had somehow caused it. She didn't start to realise that what had happened to her was not her fault until she had a session with a therapist who specialised in supporting victims of sexual assault.

Sarah was able to reconstruct her life with assistance from friends and family, therapy, and counselling. She soon got a divorce from John and moved on to a new relationship with someone who treated her right and loved her.

She never did forget what had occurred to her, though, and she went on to fight diligently to bring attention to the problem and support those who had gone through similar situations.

The moral of Sarah's story is that no one should ever have to experience the trauma of marital rape. It is a crime that is frequently disregarded and misunderstood, yet it is a very real and terrible kind of sexual violence that has an impact on countless people worldwide. The support and protection of survivors must be improved, and we must endeavour to build a society in which no one must experience the horrors of marital rape.
